 Upper Feather River Watershed consists mainly of Pine, Fir and Cedar species. Below is a list of some species around the watershed that we will look more into. 

  1. Lodgepole pine (Pinus contorta ssp. murrayana) 
  2. Dwarf resin birch (Betula glandulosa)
  3. Canyon live oak (Quercus chrysolepis var. chrysolepis)
  4. Douglas-fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii var. menziesii)
  5. Pacific madrone (Arbutus menziesii)
  6. Foothill pine (Pinus sabiniana)
  7. California bay (Umbellularia californica)
  8. Incense cedar (Calocedrus decurrens)
  9. Black oak (Quercus kelloggii)
  10. Bigleaf maple (Acer macrophyllum)

 Mapping and Delineating Upper Feather Watershed This map shows the area of which Upper Feather Watershed occupies. It is about 3,586 sq. mi., 252 miles. It spans across multiple towns including Chester, Johnsville, Stirling City, etc.  Chester Johnsville Stirling City There are multiple creeks and lakes within the watershed with many different elevation changes. The Upper Feather Watershed floods along the riverbanks. These areas flood mainly during the spring when the Sierra Nevada Mountains snow melts causing high water flow in the rivers. The affected areas are the towns of Quincy and Greenville due to the towns being by the wetlands main channels and tributaries.
